The 19 mile Quinnipiac Trail is the oldest in Connecticut's blue-blazed system. The 5 miles in Sleeping Giant have some of the most difficult trail sections in the State with hand-over-hand scrambles, sheer cliff edges, and uneven rocky footing.
North of Sleeping Giant, the trail ascends York Mountain, Mad mare's Hill, and Mount Stanford. It connects to the Regicides Trail with incomparable cliff walks and views and passes by Connecticut's largest single-drop waterfall, Roaring Brook Falls.
Through hikers may wish to purchase a copy of the Connecticut Walk Book with maps and descriptions of all 800+ miles of Connecticut blue trails plus associated side trails. The route will follow the south-to-north mileage table in the CFPA guide.
