Mount Airy DHNegril

This season has been particularly odd as it has rained almost every day for an hour Feb. thru Apr. This has left this ancient loop in the hardest riding conditions I have experienced on Canaan Mountain. The uphill climb to Mount Jerusalem is rarely used from either access north and south for mostly farming of cane, bamboo, etc. Most of this long climb is slick and has small patches of road about 4 feet wide. The mossy covered rock gardens are green this season and have not turned to grippy blue and add the constant rain you get a gravel loop that almost eliminates gravel bikes. I ride this one with a 27.7 or 29 dually with 150mm travel or an older Nomad. The climb is breath taking vision wise and smells of sweet sugar also you must do the odd bamboo limbo to reduce dabbing. The DH is like a long rollercoaster that flows through multiple rock gardens with a few short testy climbs composed of cemented rock gardens. The view is magnificent with ancient desolate views of coconuts, palms, cane, bamboo with red dirt and challenging tech sections. reporter Unknownview

this was my 1st time riding from North to South and that's the way it should be ridden. After hike a bike for 10 minutes the Enduro DH kicks in running down rock gardens and century old path like roads all red dirt loaded with mango, pineapples and palms. All the way to the ocean. reporter Idealview

January 2020 the trail has had no one on the south half since I left in April. There were 2 blocked places where trees were down making an absolute trail block as the trees has "Pussy Claw Macca" wound all through the downfall leaving it an impenetrable barrier. 2 hours of Machete work has one spot open and the other passable but it took me over an hour to open up the trail. Going in again tomorrow, March 28. This trail was still well marked with my pink ribbon tape and seemed easy to follow. Coconut Valley was dry but still a\eye candy for anyone. reporter Very Dryview

The trail is lush from 3 months of rain and untouched by mankind. We just spent time re-building the trail. Less stumps and roots to ruin a ride and more flow. reporter Unknownview

as of April 2019 the trail is well marked with pink marking tape. I cleared the trail so you can attempt to ride it without dabbing. Still has not been done as 3 of the climbs are ball busters. I found riding it in reverse from the North made for crazy DH sections. reporter Very Dryview
